Today many large enterprise applications are built and deployed in a private cloud application environment. A private cloud provides a flexible and cost effective solution to align resources with application priority and demand. But, a cloud based environment presents unique challenges. The tools for management of virtual machines and the application environment are constantly being matured. The techniques for load balancing, monitoring, and optimization in cloud environment are still evolving. The private cloud environments are usually built on engineered systems from vendors such as VCE V-Block, oracle Supercluster and others. In this presentation, Vic and Vinkesh will share real world experiences monitoring and optimizing in a private cloud environment.
Vic Soder is a Director with Deloitte Consulting LLP’s Systems Integration service line, with over 20 years of experience in Deloitte’s Technology practices. He leads Deloitte’s national Application Performance Center of Expertise, specializing in application performance, system sizing, and capacity planning advisory services. Vic has provided performance and capacity planning services to a wide variety of large clients in multiple industries. He previously worked in positions with Boole & Babbage and the Institute for Software Engineering, and holds a B.S. degree in Mathematical Sciences from Stanford University.
Vinkesh Mehta is a Specialist Leader in Deloitte’s Technology Practice. He has 26 years of software industry experience building robust and high performance software systems from OS to end-user applications. He currently works on a large public sector project where he has redesigned batch, online, and web services to achieve 10x or higher performance. His current focus is performance analysis, optimization, testing, monitoring and capacity planning. As a member of the OASIS consortium, Vinkesh has contributed toward the development of several SOA standards. He has published papers and has patent in the area of business process management and SOA. Vinkesh has a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from IIT, Bombay.
